# 4FunPuzzle Crossmath Online (Playable Game) Canonical page: https://4funpuzzle.com/crossmath/ Generated from the current public game guide during deployment. Consult the live game and linked policy pages for current information. This page offers built-in single-solution puzzles to play in the browser; for custom grids from other games, use the Crossmath Solver instead. ## How to play Crossmath (Cross Math) online - **Pick a cell or a sorted tile.** Tap any empty slot (?) on the grid and then tap a number tile in the sorted tray — or tap a tile first and place it into a slot. Duplicate numbers are grouped with a ×N badge so you can scan the tray fast. - **Use the Active Equations bar on large grids.** When you select a cell, the full horizontal (↔ Row) and vertical (↕ Col) equations passing through it appear right above the tray. Tap any slot pill in that bar to jump directly without panning. - **Local balance (= ✓) vs global Check.** A green = ✓ means that single equation balances mathematically. Because rows and columns intersect, a number that balances one row might still be needed in another column — use **Check** anytime to verify against the puzzle’s unique solution. - **Follow order of operations (PEMDAS / BODMAS).** Multiplication (×) and division (÷) are evaluated before addition (+) and subtraction (−). For example, 2 + 3 × 4 = 14, not 20. - **Stuck? Use Hint, Undo, Erase or Reset.** Hint locks the one guaranteed tile into a slot. Undo and Erase are unlimited and free. Finishing a puzzle shows a full-board view and a text result you can copy. ## Game rules and difficulty tiers Fill every empty slot with one of the remaining number tiles so that each horizontal and vertical equation balances. Every built-in puzzle is an original layout verified by our constraint solver to have exactly one solution. Difficulty tiers: Tier | Grid | Tiles | Features | --- | --- | --- | Easy | 5 × 5 | 4–6 | Addition, subtraction and simple multiplication with small numbers | Medium | 7 × 7 | 7–10 | All four operations, order of operations (PEMDAS) and duplicate tiles | Hard | 9 × 9 | 11–14 | Three-operand equations, unknown results and chained equations (A = B = C) | Expert | 11 × 11 | 15–20 | Sparse large grids, big numbers and dense duplicate tiles | Order of operations applies everywhere on this page: 8 + 2 × 3 = 14 (multiply first), not 30 (left to right). If you are working on a puzzle that uses left-to-right calculation, our [Crossmath Solver](https://4funpuzzle.com/crossmath-solver/) lets you switch rules for custom grids. ## Frequently asked questions ### Is this Crossmath game free to play? Yes. All 20 built-in puzzles are free to play in your browser, with no account, login or app download. JavaScript is needed to run the game on your device. ### Are all puzzles guaranteed to have a unique solution? Yes. Every built-in puzzle is verified by our constraint-satisfaction solver to have exactly one valid mathematical solution. The Check button compares your board against that unique solution. ### Does Crossmath use order of operations (PEMDAS / BODMAS)? The built-in puzzles on this page use standard order of operations: multiplication and division before addition and subtraction. For example, 2 + 3 × 4 = 14, not 20. ### What does the ×2 or ×3 badge on a number tile mean? Identical number tiles are grouped in ascending order so the tray stays compact. A ×3 badge means three tiles with that number remain available to place; a greyed 0/3 means all of them are on the board — tap it to recall one. ### Can I solve a puzzle from my mobile app here? This page offers built-in puzzles to play. To solve a custom grid from another game or a newspaper, open our free [Crossmath Solver](https://4funpuzzle.com/crossmath-solver/), which accepts any grid and remaining tiles. ### Is my progress saved? Solved puzzles are remembered only while this page stays open. Nothing about your game is written to browser storage or uploaded; refreshing starts a fresh session. ## Website and policies - [Site documentation index](https://4funpuzzle.com/llms.txt) - [About 4FunPuzzle](https://4funpuzzle.com/about/) - [Privacy notice](https://4funpuzzle.com/privacy/) - [Contact and support](https://4funpuzzle.com/contact/)
